POSITIVE SELF-MANAGEMENT

What is Positive Self Management?
The Positive Self Management workshops will provide individuals with specific training on chronic disease self management for individuals living with HIV/AIDS. Participants will learn: how to best integrate medication regiments in daily life, techniques for dealing with difficult emotions, exercise, nutrition, communications skills, evaluating symptoms and treatments.

We encourage all those who are interested in enrolling to come and be a part of this amazing opportunity to learn and grow!

Positive Self-Management Master Training
The Gay Family Foundation (GFF) has hosted the first Positive Self-Management Master Training on May 1-5 at the Bon Secours Baltimore Health Systems in Baltimore, Maryland. The training was co-sponsored in partnership with the Baltimore City Health Department and Stanford University’s patient research center.

The goal of the Positive Self-Management Master Training course was:
  1. To increase the skills of consumers to manage their disease while making efficient use of the time they spend with doctors and case managers/client advocates.
  2. To train consumers and providers to become certified master trainers of the Positive Self-Management program (PSMP) developed by Stanford University.

All participants who signed up for the workshop successfully completed.

Upcoming PSMP Workshop in the Baltimore Area
In the Summer of 2006, the trained PSMP leaders will conduct various workshops throughout the Baltimore EMA (Eligible Metropolitan Area)

  • Baltimore City
  • Baltimore County
  • Anne Arundel County
  • Queen Anne's County
  • Carol County
  • Hartford County
  • Howard County

My life is a testamoney to the importance of the Positive Self Management program and I have been looking forward to accessing this blog which I understand is intended to be used to openly discuss and to announce upcoming courses to the community. I regreat to anounce that I am incourraged only by the quality of information made avilable before January 22nd of 2007 and am determined to keep it active. As I am not an employee of GFF I’ll go out on the limb a bit here and ask, “can I hear an AMEN”?
Thank you,
